I was drawn to sports and fitness at an early age. At first it was witnessing the body’s amazing athletic abilities and repeatedly finding the body surpassing expectations and achieving whatever the mind desired. In 2001, I become sick. A year later I was diagnosed with late stage Lyme disease. This evolved into both an acute and chronic battle that impacted my life for twelve years. I discovered when my body is ill, exercise functions as a spark to help me reclaim my health. No matter how sick I was, when I exercised (even if it was so much less of what I once did) it gave me a sense of empowerment. Exercise made me realize I could still move and feel healthier and stronger in the moment despite feeling fully exhausted and in pain.
I was a good patient, following doctors orders, taking medications, meditating, believing, doing Iv treatments, trying everything imaginable to get better. Of all the treatments, it was really the exercise that made me feel like I was truly doing something for my body. I wanted my body to work and gradually exercising made me realize it could work and that I could play a more active role in physically getting myself better.
Now, I have the pleasure of both coaching, inspiring, and witnessing the transformation of many individuals as they overcome their own obstacles whether personal, psychological, and or physical. I see them find their own strength, appreciation for their body, and take control of their wellness and lives. My goal is to make an impact with each individual, inspiring them to be active participants in finding whole body wellness and in achieving their fitness goals.
